Kohlrabi is awesome
Kohlrabi has never really been on my radar for vegetables to purchase at the supermarket. So in a way the CSA has been an eye-opener. Last summer I got obsessed with tomatillos - they were so great for making quick sauces and adding zing to a dish. This summer it's kohlrabi. You can throw it into any salad and it instantly adds a refreshing crunch. It's definitely a nice alternative to radishes, when you don't want that sting or fartiness that radishes can impart. Kohlrabi tastes a bit like broccoli stem but a bit milder. It's perfect julienned raw in a salad on a hot summer day.
Wayne also figured out that it tasted great in the corn soup that he made, with a bit of olive oil and lime juice and salt.
